Winchcombe is a small town with many independent shops and services and an excellent range of places to eat out. From tea rooms, coffee houses and the deli to pubs, restaurants and 5 North street with its Michelin star, you will find plenty of places to eat out within easy walking distance. You can visit the wonderful Sudeley castle and gardens without even getting into your car.
The Barn is within a few minutes walk of the Cotswold Way (http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/cotswold-way) and there are many great walks nearby. You can catch the bus to the top of Cleeve Hill, enjoy the view and then walk home, mostly downhill!
Stratford on Avon (http://www.visitstratforduponavon.co.uk/) is less than 45 minutes away so it is easy to visit the theatres and the shops.
The historic town of Cirencester (http://www.cirencester.co.uk/)with its Corinian Museum, excellent shops and the Brewery Arts centre is about 45 minutes drive.
Oxford (http://www.visitoxfordandoxfordshire.com/) and Birmingham are about an hour away.
Tewkesbury (http://www.tewkesbury.gov.uk/visitors), Cheltenham and Gloucester are all nearby and both have many attractions.
Tewkesbury Abbey (http://www.tewkesburyabbey.org.uk/)and Gloucester Cathedral (http://www.gloucestercathedral.org.uk/)are both worth visiting as is Gloucester docks.
Cheltenham is an excellent shopping centre, has many restaurants as well as the Holst Birthplace Museum (http://www.holstmuseum.org.uk/) and the Wilson, Cheltenham Museum and Art Gallery (http://www.cheltenhammuseum.org.uk/)
Winchcombe is surrounded by many small Cotswolds (http://cotswolds.com/)villages and towns including Broadway (http://www.broadway-cotswolds.co.uk/), Stow, Stanway, Burford (http://www.burfordcotswolds.co.uk/), Snowshill, Chipping Campden and Moreton in Marsh. In most you will find good pubs, great views and in the towns lots of independent shops.
